As the year comes to a close, turnover among the nation’s chief executive officers dropped to a 12-month low in November, as 82 CEO changes were announced during the month, according to the latest report released Wednesday by global outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc.
NovemberCEOexits were down 10 percent from 91 in October. Last month’s total was 3.4 percent higher than the 79 announced in November 2010. This marks the seventh time this year thatCEOchanges were higher than the corresponding month in 2010.
The total number of departures recorded this year remains slightly below the 2010 pace. So far, Challenger has tracked 1,095 CEO departures, 2.8 percent fewer than the 1,127 CEO changes announced from January through November last year.
