The number of chief executive officer changes rose slightly in April, as 103 CEOs announced their departures during the month, up from 99 in March and 101 in April 2010, according to the latest report on CEO departures released Wednesday by global outplacement consultancy Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc.
The 103 CEO changes recorded last month represent the highest monthly total since December 2010 when 107 CEOs left their posts. This marks the second month this year that CEO changes were higher than the corresponding month a year earlier.
So far this year, a total of 390 CEO departures have been recorded, 11 percent fewer than the 441 CEO exits announced in the first four months of 2010.
