CEO Turnover Surges As Year Ends


Departures among the nation’s chief executive officers rose 35 percent in December to 107, the highest total since September. Despite the year-end surge, CEO turnover for the year was virtually unchanged from 2009 levels, according to the final 2010 CEO turnover report released Wednesday by global outplacement consultancy Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc.

The 107 CEO changes announced last month was up from 79 in November. It was just ahead of the 105 departures announced in December 2009. The December total was slightly higher than the 103 departures-per-month average recorded in 2010.
